The Third Room is a community platform for public artist talks in Leipzig, founded by artists Elizabeth Gerdeman and Michael Hahn and currently operating as a team endeavour. It has existed since April 2022 in Besser Leben.
Intended to serve foremost for practising artists, the Third Room also serves as a space that integrates ostensibly disparate worlds—true to the history of Leipzig, a crossroads and intersection of international newcomers and locals—converging as practitioners, thinkers, activists, and advocates for a creative and vibrant city derived from and operating through various and varied backgrounds, abilities, and experiences. The Third Room, as a salon-inspired cultural space, aims to honour and exemplify inclusivity, hospitality, and to prioritise openness and diversity.
